Privacy Policy

Effective August 4, 2026

NameVenn is designed for private baby-name discovery between connected partners. This policy explains how the NameVenn beta processes information.

Information we process

We process identifiers and optional name and email information supplied by Sign in with Apple; partner-connection state; name preferences, ratings, matches, shortlist activity, custom names, friend-submitted suggestions and optional notes; purchase entitlement records; encrypted device tokens needed for notifications; and beta-feedback text. An optional surname is encrypted before it is stored by the service. If a tester explicitly chooses to include diagnostics with feedback, we also receive the app version, build number, iOS version, and device family. That diagnostic bundle does not contain names, ratings, or partner activity.

How we use it

We use this information only to authenticate you, synchronize your NameVenn, personalize recommendations, reveal shared outcomes, deliver requested notifications, verify purchases, prevent abuse, operate and improve the beta, and respond to feedback or support requests. NameVenn does not sell personal information, use third-party advertising SDKs, or track you across other companies’ apps or websites.

What partners, friends, and family see

Individual ratings stay private unless they create a shared product outcome such as a mutual match or shortlist entry. A connected partner does not receive your raw surname or your private list of passes and vetoes. A guest suggestion link shows the connected partners’ first names, but never their surname, ratings, matches, shortlist, other contributors, or what happened to a submitted suggestion. Connected partners can review a submitted suggestion and optional note together.

Service providers and security

NameVenn uses Apple for authentication, purchases, and notifications; Vercel for application hosting; and Neon for database hosting. These providers process information to operate their respective services. We use transport encryption, encryption for sensitive stored values, and access controls intended to protect private data.

Retention and deletion

We retain information while your account is active and as needed to operate and improve the beta. You can permanently delete your account from Settings in the app. Deletion removes or irreversibly anonymizes personal information, subject to narrow obligations such as transaction, fraud-prevention, security, or legal records. You may also contact us if you cannot access the app.

Your choices

You can decline notification permission, disconnect a partner, hide the surname preview, choose whether to include diagnostics with beta feedback, revoke a friend-suggestion link, restore purchases, sign out, or delete your account from the app. Apple manages the email relay and authorization choices associated with Sign in with Apple.
